NEW DELHI : It was an advertisement, which put Salwant Singh in
the dock. Lancers Network Limited, the detective company which was
following him for the past four months, got the clue to Singh's
identity from the advertisement which was published in one of the
national dailies.
Kunwar Vikram Singh, managing director of the Lancers Network
Limited said, " The advertisement in the paper was regarding
the new business which he wanted to set-up in Delhi. The venture
was similar to the business which he was running in Singapore. "The
address given by Salwant, in the advertisement was of Chandigarh
and Mumbai. According to Singh while the Chandigarh address was
of the resident, the Mumbai one belonged to a credit card club.
"He used the club's services to complete his business work,"
alleged Singh. After tracking his identity from the club, the detective
company ascertained Singh's real residence address. "On verification
we learnt that his residence was in Mohali," disclosed Singh.
Lancers Network Limited got the contract to apprehend the accused
four months back. "On verification we learnt that his residence
was in Mohali," disclosed Singh. Lancers Network Limited got
the contract to apprehend the accused four months back. "Although
the accused had come to India in 1999, my client, the United Overseas
Bank, informed me about the accused in October," said Singh.
The detective company was lucky to spot the advertisement in time.
"From the advertisement we came to know about his membership
with the credit card club. After identifying his identity we put
him under our surveillance. My team started to work actively in
Chandigarh and Delhi: said Singh adding that the detective company
was in regular touch with the Interpol department. When asked why
didn't he inform the police about Salwant, Singh clarified: "We
are in regular touch with the high officials of Interpol and Crime
Brach. But we could not arrest the man since there was no official
information to the Interpol by the Singaporean authorities."
Singh claimed that the police received the communiqué on
Wednesday. But the detective company got a lazed copy of the court
warrant few days back.
"After receiving the warrant copy I alerted my staff and came
to know that the accused was coming to Delhi on Tuesday. From Chandigarh
he was going to Mumbai, Ahmedabad and then coming to Delhi. In the
Capital he had put up himself at a five star hotel. He, however,
changed the hotel later in the day," disclosed Singh. On Tuesday,
Salwant had to visit a five-star hotel in Central Delhi. "We
followed him from the hotel, where he was staying, to Central Delhi.
From there he went to Friends Colony and then back to his hotel.
In evening he went to INA market," said Singh. According to
him since the team was shadowing him from morning. Salwant probably
got the clue. "The quick turn, which he took in the INA market,
reflected that he came to know about it," said Singh who blocked
Salwant's car. From the spot, Singh said, he called the senior Delhi
police officials and handed them over to the police.
